Triggers & Glimmers
A trigger is a stimulus that awakens a painful memory, feeling, or symptom. People who experienced trauma or who have a mental health condition are particularly vulnerable to triggers. A glimmer is the exact opposite of a trigger‚ it is some kind of cue, either internal or external that brings one back to a sense of joy or safety. Like triggers, glimmers are also cues‚ but instead of cueing our body into an alarm system state, they move the body into a feeling of safety and connection. Understanding and identifying triggers and glimmers can increase our ability to regulate, cope, and experience the joys of day to day life. This bundle includes information on triggers, glimmers, and how to understand both.
