Feeding the Anxiety Monster
This helpful tool explains to children how they may actually be making their anxiety worse by ‘feeding the anxiety monster’ and provides ideas for breaking this pattern. Perfect for childrens therapists, parents, school psychologists, and counsellors.
Sometimes, anxiety lets us know what we need and keep us safe. Other times, it can feel like a monster in our minds, making us feel scared and overwhelmed. When we feed our anxiety monster it gets bigger and bigger! Many thoughts and behaviours feed our anxiety, making it worse and worse, bigger and bigger. Negative thoughts, self-doubt, worries, and distorted thinking can all exacerbate feelings of anxiety.
