Comfortable vs Uncomfortable Emotions Chart
We use the terms 'comfortable' and 'uncomfortable' rather than 'good' and 'bad' when discussing emotions because it's essential to recognize that all emotions are valid and serve a purpose. There are no “bad” emotions, only ones that may feel uncomfortable to experience.
Labeling emotions as 'good' or 'bad' can create a false dichotomy that overlooks the complexity and significance of our feelings. By describing emotions in terms of 'comfortable' or 'uncomfortable,' we emphasize that it’s ok to experience the full range of human emotion. These charts help support clients and individuals to identify “comfortable” and “uncomfortable” emotions. This resource is a handy and accessible alternative to the "Feelings Wheel" which can be difficult to read and understand for some clients.
