Cognitive interweaves are a component of EMDR therapy used by EMDR therapists. Interweaves are employed when the standard EMDR protocol isn't effectively reducing the distress associated with the targeted memory or when the client is stuck in processing. Interweaves should be used to facilitate processing of distressing memories or experiences during the EMDR session, aligned with proper EMDR training.
